How to Stop Rumination and Shame
While I typically stress nutrition and supplements for healing, the emotional aspect of healing is equally, if not more important. A major thing I myself deal with, and many others deal with is the idea of rumination and shame. It is one thing to feel guilt and learn from our mistakes. Whether we have made bad decisions about our health, relationships, or finances, if we get stuck in the past and feel shame, it will destroy our present and future. We need to learn how to forgive ourselves and focus on the here and now for our benefit and those around us.
In this video, Sheera Davis, LCSW helps us understand why we hyper-fixate on shame and how that feeling can be our “Go to” and “comfort/normal” feeling, how to stop the cycle of shame and rumination, move forward from mistakes, and focus on accountability.
